Running a business isn’t easy. Running a business that’s hurting during ‘tough times’ isn’t easy and can be downright painful. I know. I’ve experienced it… a lot. I’ve wanted to quit, but there’s been something that has kept me hanging on…and my heart has held on to that certainty there was a bigger purpose here, so don’t quit.

Over the last 18 months or so, more and more things have seemingly fallen into place…or maybe I’ve gotten into alignment with what I’ve wanted. Thanks to so many people, though, I feel like I’ve come upon a major ‘something big’ that my whole being is dancing ‘yes’ to… being someone who heals the heartache of women who are meant to transform their worlds with their gifts, who are meant to shine their lights brightly, but for their heartache.

There’s a beautiful story in Love Poems from God about a Sufi saint, Rabia, who when speaking with Allah is told, “Show me where it hurts,” and she bursts into tears as every cell recognizes His love and tenderness – and healing.

I currently have 5 openings for a 5 session Healing Heartache in Business program. I’m so excited, because, of course, I’ve been working the program myself and it is beautiful! Divinely inspired, without a doubt! Want to experience a sense of peace and renewed joy in your business? Contact me regarding the Healing Heartache in Business series!

peace and blessings,

A Prayer

O Creator, Source of all life
Shine your light in my heart.
And through my hands
Manifest your love.
Calm my doubts and
Unlock any gates on the path
You have set me.
Let my eyes see the beauty
My ears hear the harmony
My skin feel the texture
My tongue taste the bounty
And my nose smell the sweetness
of your earthly garden,
Knowing that through my senses
you experience the joy
of your own creation.
Let my words and actions
stem from love, not fear.
Let me be ever aware of
my connection with all that is.
Gently prod me from the traps
of wallowing in the past
or living too much for the future.
Let me savor the moment
Knowing that it is always
your greatest gift.
For this and all your creation
I am truly thankful. Amen

~~ Stephanie Noble

Hallelujah!

Had a great day today! WHOO HOOOOO! I delivered a presentation to a new group of people…not people who would typically be “my people.” Oh, the mistakes I made!! Some really big blunders like misreading the audience and the energy level I “should” have delivered from. But the point was I stepped out of my comfort zone, did the presentation and for the most part, HAD FUN! Using what I’ve learned through Speaking Circles, I felt a wonderful connection with some of the people in the group. I felt like I was very much myself – and some liked that, others didn’t and I realized (after some licking of my wounds) that was okay. I got some great feedback, including a couple of “ouches” that gave me great information for ways to improve. What a win!!

Perhaps the biggest win is that I did so much wrong and still had a good time being myself, sharing some of what I love and am learning about embracing change. I have a lot of room for improvement and I did okay (most of the feedback was positive).

Most importantly, I did my “job.” I sparkled. I couldn’t help it! Not everyone liked it or got it – and the ones who did, did. How perfect is that? This day has been a huge win and miracle. I feel like I’m saying ‘yes’ to life in a big way. I love it! This is what I want to share with other women – saying ‘yes’ to life!

It’s so great to be in a place where you know you’re being stirred up and that you’ve asked for it, even if not exactly in the way it’s showing up. So, I’ve been practicing the art of heart fluffing. Feels great at the time. Really great. And then in the next few days lots of those kinds of mucky pieces hanging around in you get stirred up and become more noticeable. Cool, even if not fun! Last few days having been feeling like Paul and I need LOTS of space – being away from each other. Yuck stuff…on the other hand, this is really what’s up for healing. And by fluffing up my heart and asking that it be cleaned…well, this is answered prayer, isn’t it? Amen! (Now, this minute I’m feeling this way, when Paul’s in the other room!) Clean, clean, clean!

So, not only the fluffing has been happening, but I took a jaunt to San Francisco today for my spiritual direction session with Carol Costello. And today I had time to also see my aunt and uncle who live nearby and go past the homes that my grandmothers lived in. More stirring! Just being in San Francisco brings me back to being a little girl growing up in the early 60′s. Golden Gate Park. Larson Pool. The aquarium. 19th Avenue, Stonestown, the Emporium windows at Christmas. The fog.

The forecast for SF (in the Sacramento paper) was patchy, morning fog. I should have known better!

Makes me nuts when I can’t figure things out (quickly).

I hate wasting time doing things that take waaay longer than I think they should. If I had any sense, I’d just stop and come back to the project later – or better yet, find someone who really knows how to do the things I need done and ask them do it.

I’m really grateful to Adam Kayce of Bright Coconut for his help, but mostly for his patience…especially on days like this! I want to be more hands on with this website, but that learning curve, without Adam, would be nightmarish for me!

Today my sister and I are in Monroe, Washington with her son for a memorial service for Greg, my sister’s former husband and my nephew’s father. Yesterday we spent the majority of the day with Greg’s parents and sisters, looking at old photos and reminiscing about Greg and his life and our lives with him. I hadn’t seen Greg since he and my sister separated, but he always held a very special place in my heart. Over the last several years, he’d had several major health setbacks and late last week he passed. He was 53 years old. Coming together after a death is an interesting part of life, we each grieve differently and yet are gathering, opening our hearts to one another, sharing memories, sharing love.

I can feel Greg, released from his pain, his beautiful heart shining on all those he loved. His passing has brought us closer together, tenderized our hearts, made us even more grateful for the blessings we have – and for the blessing of having known and loved Greg. We love you, Greg, always. Thank you for loving us!

Working in my front yard for the last several weeks, I’ve tried to be careful of my over-50, fair Irish skin. I’ve worn sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat. As I watched several groups of young people walk by with nary a hint of sunscreen on their bare arms and legs, I was suddenly struck by the fact that I no longer feeling invincible. My concern about protecting my skin has outweighed my desire to look “fashionable.” I’ve become one of those old ladies who garden in their big, straw hats.

Thankfully, I didn’t FEEL old as I shoveled dirt, pulled out roots, planted a variety of flowers and groundcover, and laid bricks. And except for all the broken fingernails and minor cuts and scrapes, the physical labor actually felt great – I loved feeling the strength and vitality I still have! Now that the main part of the planting project is complete, I’ll be looking for other ways to keep up with the physical activity!

Sometimes, like when I’m having a pity party, I forget that I’m not a “victim” of life’s circumstances. I forget that there are a lot of perspectives from which I could be viewing my life. Some of them may not be so pleasant, but a whole heck of a lot of them could show my life as pretty darn good. As much as I might be “enjoying” my whine, I can remember that I am, as Goethe calls it, the decisive element in the equation.

I have come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element. It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. I possess tremendous power to make life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration, I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis is escalated or de-escalated…

~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

What is required is a willingness to change a point of view AND, frankly, a bit of patience while developing the skill of shifting perspective. If we’ve been stuck in a rut of negative thinking, listening to “gremlins,” or whatever we may call it, shifting the thinking may take a while. Why? Because this thinking is likely deeply ingrained…much more so than you would ever guess. And so much so that you probably rarely even notice it…until you’re feeling bummed or blue or out of sorts. But, in that blueness, you’ve got a great opportunity! You can reclaim your power to make life miserable – or joyous! Or not – and isn’t that a point of power to be able to choose even that? Enjoy your whine when that’s what you’ve chosen!

Recently I received a thank you note from Barack and Michelle Obama. You may have received one, as well. I’m sure many people did. Part of the note read,

“…This is our time…to reclaim the American Dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth…that out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope, and where we are met with cynicism, and doubt, and those who tell us that we can’t, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people: Yes We Can.”

Yes We Can. That thought thrills me. The realization that my president-elect wants me – us – to believe that – to stand in it – to live it – thrills me even more. If we do live this, what can we create/develop/help happen?

What is it that you want for yourself, for your family, your community, country, world? What do you hope for? My hope is that we all become clearer about what we want, we recognize that we can, and we strive to make those dreams and hopes a reality.
