Had a late lunch the other day with my dear friend, Jennifer Grainger of Spiritual Growth Community. Although we laughed a lot, one of our more serious topics was about some of the changes taking place in the world. Woe to those who think that economic recovery means that things will go back to the way they were! It just isn’t going to happen and we may as well recognize that fact and start moving on. (Remember Who Moved My Cheese?) This is an evolutionary time and those who are evolving, changing, growing will be the ones who survive and can thrive.

In Friday’s paper, there was a touching photo of a man, an oil rig workman from one of the gulf states, with a sign reading, ‘Save American Jobs.’ Wouldn’t it be great to save the jobs, the livelihoods of people who are deeply affected by this horrible oil ’spill.’ But, like it or not, life will not be the same for the people in the gulf area…it’s the end of the world as they know it. It’s coming to be the end of the world as most of us know it. Big changes are in store – for all of us. How can we prepare for them? How can we maintain some semblance of balance?

We’ll fall on our faces a lot as we navigate new ways of doing things, but so will everyone else! This will all be new territory.

Anyone who has known me through one winter knows that I am a somewhat pathetic basketball fan. Why? Well, it probably started in junior high when the boys I liked were on the “tall and skinny” side – perfect for playing basketball. (You started it, Jimmy LaChance, wherever you are!) But once I started going to games and getting over just watching my current crush, I found I loved basketball. There was something about the long, lean athleticism that reminded me of dance, and I loved it!

Fortunately, I married a man who is also passionate about basketball and we go in on season tickets for the local basketball team – the Sacramento Kings. What’s all this got to do with being vibrant and spirit-based business? Tons, actually! In today’s paper, there was an article about Teams of the Decade, highlighting a Kings team of several years ago: Chris Webber, Vlade Divac, Peja Stojakovic, Doug Christie, and Mike Bibby (alternately, Jason Williams). OMG! They were absolutely THE most fun and exciting team to watch. They were serious about the game, great athletes, playing to win. They, in my mind, were all about excellence. Playing their best and bringing out the best in each other. They were a TEAM. And they played with heart and excellence.

Bringing your best forward with heart. Bringing forth your excellence, your brilliance, in whatever your arena. That’s what we need to root ourselves in, nurture and allow to grow. Our own excellence, our own brilliance, the gifts we were meant to share.

I really feel we are entering a new …. something. A new phase of our evolution? The End Days? A new paradigm? Only God knows! But since so many things are changing, it might be time for those of us who’ve tended to hide out to start coming out of hiding and sharing our gifts with others. And keep at it until we can acknowledge that we are brilliant at something, that we’ve been given some pretty amazing gifts to share.

Blessings to all,

kamala

Over the last several years, I’ve thought of changing my name to my spiritual name, Kamala. I love the way it sounds and the way it feels inside when it’s said. When over the course of several days last week, I had what felt like incredible openings and shifts. Breakdowns and breakthroughs. And now, it feels that this is the time to become Kamala. To stand in my strength and power, given me (us) by God. I know it is time to step up in a bigger way; that the world is needing us in a way we haven’t known before. Can you feel it?

Kamala does things differently than Shawn did. I love the energy I feel within me now that I’m stepping in to the carrying of this “new” name. And I relish the idea that for the rest of my life I can be called by a name I like, that feels good to me! Life’s really too short to go by a name that we don’t care for!

These are exciting times, aren’t they? Those of us who are being stirred have some wonderful work to do! And, boy, do I fantasize it being all “easy.” We’ll see!

We have to start valuing ourselves. We have to honor the light we carry and be willing to let it shine, vibrantly.

blessings,

kamala

I’ve just returned from Kendall SummerHawk’s Money, Market, and Soul Intensive. As is so often the case, you get insights during the course, but the course may just be planting the seeds. At least that’s the case for me, here. I’ve been using the starter phrase “What would it be like if…” to give myself some different perspectives. Sometimes, I get so focused on my small thinking, it’s like I’m sticking my head down a hole. So, I’m asking what it would be like to have the things I think I’d love to have: What would it be like to feel 100% valuable, whole, and complete? What would it be like to feel like a successful strategist (something I think I’m not good at)? What would it be like to have faith in myself?

What would it be like to have faith in myself. I was surprised about how easily the answers started flowing for that one…bottom line, I would be more of who I most want to be. I think that’s so cool.

This is such a time of transition and this feels good. Is this part of being a Lightworker? A cultural creative?
