Healing Heartache in Business

Running a business isn’t easy. Running a business that’s hurting during ‘tough times’ isn’t easy and can be downright painful. I know. I’ve experienced it… a lot. I’ve wanted to quit, but there’s been something that has kept me hanging on…and my heart has held on to that certainty there was a bigger purpose here, so don’t quit.

Over the last 18 months or so, more and more things have seemingly fallen into place…or maybe I’ve gotten into alignment with what I’ve wanted. Thanks to so many people, though, I feel like I’ve come upon a major ’something big’ that my whole being is dancing ‘yes’ to… being someone who heals the heartache of women who are meant to transform their worlds with their gifts, who are meant to shine their lights brightly, but for their heartache.

There’s a beautiful story in Love Poems from God about a Sufi saint, Rabia, who when speaking with Allah is told, “Show me where it hurts,” and she bursts into tears as every cell recognizes His love and tenderness – and healing.

I currently have 5 openings for a 5 session Healing Heartache in Business program. I’m so excited, because, of course, I’ve been working the program myself and it is beautiful! Thanksgiving prayer

A Prayer

O Creator, Source of all life
Shine your light in my heart.
And through my hands
Manifest your love.
Calm my doubts and
Unlock any gates on the path
You have set me.
Let my eyes see the beauty
My ears hear the harmony
My skin feel the texture
My tongue taste the bounty
And my nose smell the sweetness
of your earthly garden,
Knowing that through my senses
you experience the joy
of your own creation.
Let my words and actions
stem from love, not fear.
Let me be ever aware of
my connection with all that is.
Gently prod me from the traps
of wallowing in the past
or living too much for the future.
Let me savor the moment
Knowing that it is always
your greatest gift.

Stirred after fluffing

It’s so great to be in a place where you know you’re being stirred up and that you’ve asked for it, even if not exactly in the way it’s showing up. So, I’ve been practicing the art of heart fluffing. Feels great at the time. Really great. And then in the next few days lots of those kinds of mucky pieces hanging around in you get stirred up and become more noticeable. Cool, even if not fun! Last few days having been feeling like Paul and I need LOTS of space – being away from each other. Yuck stuff…on the other hand, this is really what’s up for healing. And by fluffing up my heart and asking that it be cleaned…well, this is answered prayer, isn’t it? Amen! (Now, this minute I’m feeling this way, when Paul’s in the other room!) Clean, clean, clean!

So, not only the fluffing has been happening, but I took a jaunt to San Francisco today for my spiritual direction session with Carol Costello. And today I had time to also see my aunt and uncle who live nearby and go past the homes that my grandmothers lived in. More stirring! Just being in San Francisco brings me back to being a little girl growing up in the early 60’s. Golden Gate Park. Larson Pool. The aquarium. 19th Avenue, Stonestown, the Emporium windows at Christmas. The fog.

The forecast for SF (in the Sacramento paper) was patchy, morning fog. I should have known better!

Heart fluffing Parts of the last year have been a little hard...

Conversations with Greg – part one

So Greg left this world last week. Same day as Michael Jackson & Farrah. Very weird, for me, losing two icons from my youth and one of my contemporaries passing. That has stirred a lot for me. The preciousness of life. Death and what it might really mean or be like. Family.

Greg had become quite religious his last several years…I think he really loved his Lord and wanted to share that. Not all of us were so keen on listening to Greg, post-conversion. Conversations became awkward. And, as a result, they became further and further apart.

So just prior to one of the first “conversations” I had with Greg, after his passing, I was feeling a lot of regret for not being in better communication, basically since his first illness several years ago, we’ve had rare communications. My regret is, in part, that I lost out on hanging out more with Greg. As I’m trying to drop into my heart, to pray, to bring more light and peace to that sore spot, I felt Greg’s “presence” almost laughing at me, telling me to just drop that regret stuff…to take delight in the love of God I could feel when I thought of or felt Greg. Rather than mope in regret, what did I learn from it – being in communication with loved ones is important. I’ve left that by the wayside recently.

It’s been quite an experience of feeling that much “good stuff” being shared with someone who’s departed this world. My sense is of the Greg I knew and loved, being relieved of pain and being able to just beam love and caring down – or over – or however it works!

Just know that he feels a little like a guardian angel or wayshower. Nice. Prayer answered.

At his memorial one of his friends said that when she was undergoing chemotherapy, Greg collected some music for her, “including some obscure music…like “The Israelites.” That Greg would have had that song made me smile…it’s one I really liked as a teenager…it was really catchy then and still is…I’ve been humming “The Israelites” since the service last Thursday. I always liked it, but enough already!
